Australia TabCorp - Singapore casino shortlist
ustralia's TabCorp Holdings Ltd. said on Monday it has been short listed by the Singapore government to build a casino resort in the city-state.
The firm joins the list of global gaming operators that have confirmed their participation in the next stage of Singapore's plan to build two casino resorts worth at least $3 billion.
"We have gone through to the second round," said a TabCorp spokeswoman.
TabCorp has submitted a concept proposal for each of the two earmarked sites - one along the city-state's downtown waterfront, the other on the resort island of Sentosa - but is interested in building only one resort.
She declined to say whether the company has teamed up with Village Leisure, a division of Australian theme park operator Village Road show Ltd. .
Keppel Land Ltd. and Las Vegas gaming giant Harrah's Entertainment Inc. said earlier on Monday that they had been asked to submit detail proposals for two casino resorts.
Last week, U.S. casino operators Kerzner International Ltd. and MGM Mirage said they have been short listed with their local partner, CapitaLand Ltd. , while South Africa's Piermont Global said it had been invited to the next round.
