Beach Plaza Casino - Tuesday 12th of July 2005

Police were left a familiar message – “Scary Movie passed through? – as two armed bandits stormed Beach Plaza Casino on Front Street last night and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The robbery prompted an intense manhunt by police.

According to a witness who asked not to be named, the two masked men, one about five feet and the other 5 feet 8 inches, entered the casino around 10:00pm via the Front Street entrance and headed to the cashier’s booth waving what looked like a shotgun and a revolver and shouting, “Nobody moves.?

At the cashier’s booth they demanded that all the cash be placed into a bag and within two to three minutes they had exited the casino. As the bandits hurried out of the casino, they told the patrons, some of whom were crouching on the floor, to tell the police, “Scary Movie passed through.?

They reportedly escaped in a white Toyota Corolla car with number plate M8781. The casino was immediately closed. Police were very tight-lipped about the details of the robbery and it was not clear whether an arrest had been made by press time.

Two armed bandits fitting the description of the casino bandits robbed Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Cole Bay on Sunday, July 3, leaving a similar “Scary Movie? message. According to the police report, the two men entered KFC while it was filled with customers, brandished guns and demanded that the cashier put the day’s earnings into a bag.

The two men ran off with the cash of the day and allegedly some cash from customers whom they also robbed.
