92-Year-Old Las Vegas Man Wins Megabucks(R) Jackpot for the Second Time - Monday 12th of September 2005
Elmer Sherwins frequent visits to the Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas paid off in a way few can imagine when he became the first person in the history of Megabucks® to win the top award twice. The $21,147,947 jackpot comes 16 years after his first Megabucks® top jackpot of $4.6 million at the Mirage in 1989.

Early Thursday evening, Sherwin eyed a Megabucks® machine at the Cannery with a feeling it might be lucky. Over the years, Sherwin has remained a fan of the Megabucks® slot from IGT because, as he said, "it pays."
The lucky winner also had another goal in mind when playing Megabucks®. He wanted to win the top award for the second time. Sherwin said, "Im glad I finally hit; Ive been trying to do it again."
In his 92 years, Sherwin said he has already traveled everywhere he wanted to go. The lucky winner has gotten a lot of mileage out of his jackpot. Sherwin carries a picture of his first win in his pocket like a passport to gain entry into exciting places, such as a cockpit tour of the Concorde.
With this jackpot, Sherwin will make a second donation to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and continue to share with his family, including his son and daughter-in-law in Las Vegas. The lucky winner just could not resist surprising his family with the win. He planned to let them hear of his jackpot on the news. "I want to see the looks on their faces when they hear," said Sherwin.
Sherwins other plans for his winnings are simple. "Im gonna try for a third win on Megabucks®," he said, "but I may try the Wheel of Fortune® slot, too." In the meantime, he has another picture to add to his pocket.
