Scientific Games Awarded Mexican Contract - Wednesday 14th of December 2005
NEW YORK – Scientific Games(Nasdaq: SGMS) has been awarded a contract to provide technical support,hardware and consulting services to Apuestas Internacionales SA, a subsidiaryof Grupo Televisa, S.A. (NYSE: TV), in connection with its number draw-basedand related games. The contract has an initial term of eight years plus anoption for a two-year extension. Scientific Games will be compensated based onpercentage of revenue derived by Apuestas Internacionales SA. The operation isexpected to launch during the first half of 2006.
"We are especially pleased to start this operation with ApuestasInternacionales in Mexico, where we look forward to being as successful aswith our customers in the United States," said Lorne Weil, Chairman and CEO ofScientific Games.
Apuestas Internacionales recently obtained a permit from the Secretaria deGobernacion, or Mexican Ministry of the Interior, to operate sport books andnumber draws, including the establishment of 65 locations throughout Mexico.
