Powerball Reaches $300 Million - Tuesday 14th of February 2006

UNITED STATES – The Powerball jackpot has reached anenormous amount, exciting players from all across the country! Even thoughthe grand prize was not awarded Saturday, 1,844,487 players across the nationwon more than $16.2 million in prizes in America's Game.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing thejackpot will grow to an estimated $300 million!

The cash option for the Wednesday, February 15th drawing will be anestimated $145.7 million.

The numbers drawn Saturday evening were 7, 38, 40, 51, 52 and thePowerball was 14. The Power Play multiplier was 4. Nine players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000.Their winning tickets were purchased in Kentucky (1), Louisiana (1),Missouri (1), New Hampshire (1), Pennsylvania (2), South Carolina (1), andWisconsin (2). Three additional players not only matched the 5 white, butalso wisely purchased the Power Play option multiplying the $200,000 by 4 fora total win of $800,000 each. Those tickets were purchased in Oregon (1), andPennsylvania (2).

Eighty-two players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won$10,000. Nine additional winners of that prize category also purchased thePower Play option, giving them a total win of $40,000.

More than 206,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 4Saturday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option forone dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings 2-5 times,except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun toselect that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even ifthere are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners atother prize levels.

Players purchased more than $72.6 million worth of tickets betweenThursday and Saturday night. The lotteries sold approximately 2 billion inPowerball tickets in FY05. That translates into more than $600 million forworthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 28 states, the District of Columbia, and theU.S. Virgin Islands.
