Another Day Added to Pennsylvania Hearings - Monday 3rd of April 2006

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – Because of overwhelming publicinterest in gaming facilities proposed for the Philadelphia area, thePennsylvania Gaming Control Board will add a fourth day of hearings on theapplications, Anne LaCour Neeb, Executive Director of the PGCB, said today.

The new date, which will be announced when details are complete, is inaddition to the previously announced hearing dates of April 10-12, 2006.

The Board will gather public input on the five proposals for twostandalone gaming licenses in the city of Philadelphia on April 10-12. It willgather input on the proposals for gaming licenses at horseracing tracks inBucks County and Delaware County on the new hearing date.

"Public input is a critical part of the licensing process, and the GamingControl Board is committed to ensuring that people across Pennsylvania have anopportunity for their views to become part of the permanent record the Boardconsiders when deciding which proposals are approved for licensure," Neebsaid.

"The Board received timely registrations from almost 1,100 individuals,community organizations, local governments and applicants statewide, including216 for the Philadelphia-area proposals," she added. "To ensure an opportunityto be heard, we have added a fourth day of hearings in the region."

Registrants are being notified by mail of the hearing at which they willhave an opportunity to testify, Neeb said. Those who cannot attend thishearing may submit written comments for inclusion in the evidentiary recordthat will have a weight equal to testimony presented in person. A copy of thecomment-submission form and instructions for filing it are included in themail notification to registrants.

People who submit written comments will have until June 2, 2006 to sendtheir comments by mail to the Gaming Control Board for inclusion in theevidentiary record, Neeb said.

Separately, the Board has added a third day of hearings on Lehigh Valley-area proposals.

Overall, there will now be 18 days of hearings scheduled for ninelocations across the Commonwealth, Neeb added. The Gaming Control Board isconsidering 22 applications for the 14 gaming licenses authorized by Act 71 of2004.
