Harrah's Exec Receives 'Spirit of Democracy' Award - Thursday 11th of May 2006

LAS VEGAS Fred Keeton, vice president of external affairs and chief diversity officer of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET) received the "Spirit of Democracy" Award from the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation on May 5 in Washington, D.C.

The annual awards recognize individuals who exhibit extraordinary leadership in the areas of civic engagement and public service. Keeton received the Corporate Leadership Award for his leadership on issues of corporate responsibility and philanthropy, and his commitment to corporate diversity.

"Diversity is increasingly recognized as an essential component of any successful business, and our goal is to establish it as one of the core values of Harrah's Entertainment," said Gary Loveman, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Harrah's Entertainment. "As the Coalition recognized, Fred is a nationally recognized leader in promoting and advancing the cause of inclusion. Keeton was honored alongside some of the nation's most prominent African-American leaders, including Congressman Bennie Thompson of Mississippi; Congressman James Clyburn of South Carolina; Dr. Kay Coles James, senior partner, J.C. Watts Companies and former director of the Office of Personnel Management; and Dr. Dorothy Height, chair of the National Council of Negro Women.

The National Coalition of Black Civic Participation is a national, non-profit, non-partisan coalition of more than 80 organizations dedicated to enhancing the full participation of the African-American community in all levels of society.
