New Mexico Group Happy with Casino Plans - Monday 19th of June 2006

NEW MEXICO – As reported by the New Mexican: "Members of the New Mexico Heritage Preservation Alliance are satisfied with information learned at the Pueblo of Nambé's public meeting on its proposed hotel and casino, but they intend to monitor the project as it proceeds.

Those worries were based on early illustrations that showed a futuristic casino with a bright beam of light shooting straight into the sky, said Gary Wolf, a member of the Night Sky Program who lives in Eldorado.

"…At the hearing, which was called to get public comment on a recent environmental assessment of the project, the building's architect, project engineer and environmental consultants from Albuquerque-based Marron & Associates walked around the room to answer questions about building design, project location and the environmental, social and economic impacts of the casino and hotel, Wolf said.

"…If the assessment is approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission, the pueblo will be free to obtain a management contract with Santa Fe-based Gaming Entertainment LLC, a subsidiary of Full House Resorts. Then construction can begin…"
