Champs splash £100k at casino - Wednesday 28th of May 2008

MANCHESTER United stars toasted winning the Premier League with a £100,000 gambling spree – but looked like they had been relegated.

The glum-looking team couldn’t even crack a smile as they went into the glitzy Manchester235 casino.

Argentinian striker CARLOS TEVEZ, 24, scowled along with WAYNE ROONEY, 22, MICHAEL CARRICK, 26, GARY NEVILLE, 33, and NEMANJA VIDIC, 26.

An onlooker said: “They were probably drained. I would hate to see their faces if they lost.”

The players’ moods soon lifted after swigging champagne in the VIP section, then climbing on chairs to chant victory songs.

Even the WAGS joined, taking turns to wear their fellas’ treasured championship medals.

Then high-rolling aces – including Tevez, RIO FERDINAND, 29, and WES BROWN, 28 – started to bet thousands.

But Portuguese stars CRISTIANO RONALDO, 23, and NANI, 21, skipped the casino for the exclusive Circle Club.

The team slept off any hangovers at the Lowry Hotel, where Ronaldo left yesterday with a two-fingered salute – perhaps hinting at a double with the Champions League final coming up.
