GALA CORAL HITS THE JACKPOT WITH STYLISH NEW CASINO - Wednesday 4th of February 2009

Gibraltar’s new Gala Casino has opened its doors in the heart of the Ocean Village complex. An investment of £6.5 million, it is a vibrant, colourful and modern facility, a multi-branded venue with state of the art amenities offering gaming (180 gaming machines, 12 gaming tables) experiences as well as a Casino, Poker Magic, a 450-seater bingo hall, a Coral lounge, jackpot zones, two bars and restaurant, an ice-line bar which is a Gala concept, and they’ll even be offering Gala’s training sessions.

The new premises will open 24/7. At the inauguration the Chief Executive of the Gala Coral Group described the new operation in Gibraltar as “the crowning glory for the Gala Coral Group in a relationship that stretched back nearly a decade”. Gala Coral arrived in Gibraltar at the turn of the new Millennium. Mr Harrison said the group was absolutely delighted with the new building. It was, he declared “a great feat of design” paying tribute to Greg Butcher and his team who built it.

Officially opening the venue in the presence of some 400 guests, Chief Minister Peter Caruana was obviously pleased to announce the Gibraltar operation was the largest single investment that Gala Coral has made in any casino anywhere in the world.

“£6.5 millions pounds have gone into what you see around you and this is a sign of the confidence that one of Britain’s leading casino and bingo companies has in this community of ours,” he emphasised.

It was, he said, a particular honour and a pleasure to open the new Gala Casino because here was a company “in such an obvious and visible way showing its commitment to our community”.
