Real Madrid FC wants to break off the contract with Bwin - Wednesday 17th of June 2009

The Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has over his table the proposal for renewal of Bwin sponsorship-contract, that he doesnt like.

Florentino Pérez considers the offer inadequate. The figures of the online betting company are not goods. He doesnt want any contract in the Clubfrom the era of former club president, Calderon. But knows he can not make a wrong decision. Florentino has asked the relevant law reports after the pressures he has received in recent days, and heightened in the last few hours.

Bwins boys, as are known the advisers of this betting company, wich does not pay gaming taxes in Spain, knowing that not all like them, have begun to lobby.

Over the past few days they have been lobbying for the renewal of the contract. One of the Chief executives of the firm, Norbert Teufelberger, has been visiting in Madrid the main political leaders to convince them of the goodness of the project despite not being a company based in Spain.

They have all the support of the catalonian nationalists. At PP are supported by the MEP and former minister of education in the last government of José María Aznar, Pilar del Castillo.

They try to convince them that their current fiscal situation, the company is based in Gibraltar, is not a legal objection to any of the both parts. Not all lawyers are of the same view, believing, as some representatives of the most famous law firms specializing in sport, in which the Spanish are only two

possibilities: either it is legal or illegal, but the figure is alegalidad is a political or social construction that has nothing to do with the law.

Florentino has not found a valid interlocutor of Bwin in Spain, and he doesnt to find it. For more difficult, the results of bwin at the close of 2008 and

so far this year are negative, so the Club does not trust its ability to pay. Right now, when the Real Madrid Football Club needs it most of all.
