Indiana Casino Fined For Grand Opening No-Show - Tuesday 28th of July 2009

Indiana Live Casino in Shelby County has been fined $124,000 after being cited by the Indiana Gaming Commission for five unrelated violations. The penalty includes $75,000 for late and inaccurate tax filings and $40,000 for the failed appearance of pop music star Justin Timberlake at the casinos grand opening in March.

The casino admitted it made mistakes in reporting its daily gross revenue, which caused the operation to come up short in required tax payments.

In the case of Timberlakes no-show, the Gaming Commission also found staff members were aware that the singer would not appear more than 24 hours before the scheduled appearance but failed to let the public know that he would not be attending.
