Dont fall for blackjack bets with 25-cent fee - Monday 21st of January 2013

Regarding the Jan. 7 story, "Resorts to offer $2 blackjack," about Resorts Atlantic City allowing a patron to make a $2 blackjack wager if the player gives the casino 25 cents for each bet made:

This is just another example of the Atlantic City casinos losing so much ground to nearby competition that they will stoop to anything to increase revenue. The greed and lack of planning for the last 32 years by casino executives has finally caught up to them. But they really dont care - their pockets are well-lined from three decades of remarkable success.

Lets be honest here. The casinos now want every last drop from locals, seniors, bus patrons and casual gamblers who dont understand odds and percentages before their Atlantic City cash cow comes to an end. Offering a wager where the player has to hand over 12.5 percent of his or her bet turns what is an unbeatable blackjack game into highway robbery.

The individuals on the Casino Control Commission know that their jobs are short-lived if the casinos cant find ways to increase revenue soon, so they gave their approval to this. Originally set up to protect the casino patrons, it is obvious whose side the commission is on now.

I ask everyone to beware and be smart when you see these new low-limit games with a fee. Simply walk right by and show them that you are smarter than they are.
