Federation Council, the upper house of Russian parliament, has endorsed amendments to the Law on Advertising that effectively limit the advertising of casinos, gambling clubs, etc.

The revised law aims to restrict the involvement of underage Russians in spieling and gambles.

From now on, casinos and play clubs cannot place outdoor promotions of their business.

Radio and TV channels cannot air those promos from 07:00 hours to 22:00 hours. The law also introduces a ban on advertising in airports, at railway stations and metro stations.

Gambling adds can be placed only inside game halls and in specialized printed media.

Another provisions says the contents of gamble and wager ads must not contain promises of a sure win, cannot target underage citizens or operate the images of people and animals.

Companies violating the law may face penalties of about 500,000 rubles [USD 1=28.9 Russian rubles].
