Great Canadian Casinos Tries Again for Liquor License

BRITISH COLUMBIA – As reported by the Goldstream News: "Hot on the heels of being denied a liquor licence for its gaming floor, Great Canadian Casinos Inc. is now considering a bar at its View Royal venue.

"In a July 6 letter to View Royal council, Great Canadian suggested licensing the deli area and smoking patio to create a drinking zone segregated from the casino proper.

"…It said serving and selling alcohol in a 'modest fashion' is a good compromise, and better than not serving drinks at all. The proposal is similar to Coquitlam's Boulevard Casino, which serves alcohol in attached lounge, patio and entertainment venues, but not on the gaming floor.

"The company has said serving drinks is designed to have better appeal to the lucrative U.S. tourist market. It also says casino employees will be trained in 'Serving It Right' and intoxication on the premises will not be tolerated…"
