Casino cheats nabbed at airport
A GROUP of Chinese nationals who had a big win at Conrad Jupiter's Casino on the Gold Coast has been caught cheating, according to the casino.The five men and one woman were gambling at the casino yesterday and left about 7pm (AEST) after collecting a large amount of money, police said.
However, casino staff using closed circuit television and other surveillance methods became concerned about their activities, believing they were involved in organised gambling.They notified police who later detained the group at Coolangatta airport.Advertisement:
The six had been charged with offences under the Casino Act, Conrad Jupiters chief operating officer Charles Read said."Conrad Jupiters has strict surveillance and security measures in place 24 hours a day and as such any misconduct can be detected," Mr Read said.Police and the casino have refused to reveal what gaming the group was involved in or how much money was won.The six would appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, police said.
