Las Vegas Sands to invest $400 mln in Man Utd casino
U.S. gaming giant Las Vegas Sands will invest about $400 million in its proposed casino project with English soccer club Manchester United Plc , the casino operator's president said on Thursday. Manchester United -- the world's richest soccer club -- has applied for a casino license for a resort to be built near its Old Trafford stadium.
"Rooms, a spa, restaurants, a sports bar, a sports betting shop -- it will be a lifestyle centre themed around Manchester United," Las Vegas Sands President and Chief Operating Officer William Weidner told Reuters in an interview. Las Vegas Sands, which is also vying to build a $2-2.5 billion casino in Singapore, will pay for the entire cost of the UK project.
