Gambling industry called to intensify their expansion
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Cde Reuben Marumahoko has called on gaming and lottery industry to expand their services in order to create employment and support the socio economic development goals.
Cde Marumahoko says government continues to provide an enabling environment for the growth of the gambling industry.
For the pass eight months the industry raised over twenty billion dollars, of which nineteen billion was channeled to cater for health, education, sporting and charity.
The collection was distributed for the construction of clinics and learning institutions, drilling of boreholes for schools and clinics and refurbishment of major hospitals throughout the country.
Meanwhile Cde Marumahoko urged the gambling business personalities to protect and assist those who are vulnerable to the ill effects of gambling such as children, pensioners gambling addicts.
He further argued gambling industry to prevent money laundering, keeping gambling free from criminal activities in spite of challenges brought about by advance computer technology.
The Deputy Minister was speaking at the annual meeting attended by gaming industry personnel and lotteries together with gaming board members.
